Grab whatever green clothing items you own and wear them every single freakin’ day because it’s Masters week!  Golf geeks around the globe are ready for a second dance with Augusta in less than six months.  After DJ’s dominating performance back in November, reports indicate that we should expect different (and much more difficult) course conditions.  So, as you prepare for the “Tradition unlike any other”, it’s time to also get ready for an overstuffed helping of Fantasy Golf analysis.  That’s from all the big names in the industry.  While I’m not a big name (not yet – hey, it’s good to have lofty goals), I do have plenty of thoughts to share.  Let’s start with my PGA DFS 2021 Masters Sleepers, a list that outlines my favorite cheaper alternatives on DraftKings, as well as their long-shot odds to win.

Obviously the term “SLEEPER” can be interpreted in a number of different ways.  In this case, it’s the lower cost players that stand out in key statistical areas, specifically the 6K Range on DraftKings.

Before I present this week’s picks, a few additional notes on Augusta National:

  • SG: Tee to Green, SG: Approach and Ball Striking are key top categories to focus on at Augusta
  • Course history is a big focus area, as newbies almost never make a major impact
  • At The Masters, keep an eye on strokes gained on the Par 5’s, especially considering a player’s performance on both 13 and 15 is often pivotal to making a run
  • I also like Three Putt Avoidance, considering getting the jitters in this event is a common occurrence.  You could keep an eye on numbers around putting on faster greens, too.
  • The weather forecast is set to feature temps in the low-to-mid 80’s throughout the tournament, with significant chances for thunderstorms on both Friday and Saturday.  How much rain (and when) will obviously impact how the course plays as the week progresses
  • If you like to consider pairings, here is the current list of starting times for the opening two rounds of the tournament, as presented on Twitter by the PGA TOUR Communications account:

I ran multiple models on Fantasy National and checked key stats via the PGA TOUR website.  The range of data I analyzed includes recent events, history at Augusta and detail for the 2021 PGA TOUR season.  Based off that data, here are my favorite 6K range sleepers on DraftKings, accompanied by their current odds to grab a WIN/Top 5/Top 10 at the event (via DraftKings Sportsbook).

PGA DFS 2021 Masters Sleepers: Top DraftKings 6K Range Plays

Corey Conners (DK: $6,900, WINNER +9000, Top 5 +1000, Top 10 +400)

Beware: High Ownership Alert!  Some people avoid chalk and that could very well be Conners this week.  Per Fantasy National, his estimated ownership is expected to be in the upper teens.  The $6,900 price tag is attractive, combined with a T10 finish here in November.  On top of that, Conners has recent form, finishing T14 at the Texas Open, 7th at THE PLAYERS and 3rd at the API.  Covering the 2021 season, Conners is 6th in the field in SG: Tee to Green and 3rd in Greens in Regulation Gained.  Over the last 36 rounds played, he is 6th in SG: Approach and 5th in SG: Ball Striking.  Where he lacks in distance, he excels in other places.  At this price – if you are ok picking chalk – he’s an intriguing option.

Jason Kokrak (DK: $6,900, WINNER +10000, Top 5 +1200, Top 10 +550)

The ownership predictions on Kokrak are about 5% less than Conners (via Fantasy National).  The 100-1 odds are intriguing, if you are not focusing on DraftKings.  Recent form is electric, considering his three straight Top 10 finishes at THE PLAYERS, API and WGC.  On top of that, over the last 36 rounds played, Kokrak is 4th in the field in 3 Putt Avoidance and 17th in Driving Distance.  He is also 5th in Greens in Regulation Gained for the 2021 season.  The one question mark is Kokrak’s missed cut here in November, leaving Augusta form as somewhat of a question mark.

Si Woo Kim (DK: $6,700, WINNER +15000, Top 5 +2000, Top 10 +900)

Streaky at times, but capable of going on pin seeking binges, Si Woo Kim is an interesting option at this price.  His recent form is on point following a T23 at the Texas Open and T9 at THE PLAYERS.  He also has three straight made cuts at The Masters (T34, T21, T24).  No top ten finishes, but he has proven he can get by the jitters that tend to swallow up so many players that land here.  For the 2021 year, Si Woo Kim is 15th in SG: Tee to Green and 34th in GIR Gained.  Toss in a top 20 ranking in the field in SG: Approach and SG: Ball Striking (last 36 rounds played).  A strong finish is not out of the realm of possibility.

Matt Wallace (DK: $6,400, WINNER +12500, Top 5 +1400, Top 10 +750)

I debated between four or five players for this slot.  To be honest, there are a lot of strong options in the 6K range, from a veteran like Phil Mickelson to a young up-and-comer like Lanto Griffin.  Wallace was just so strong last week, finishing 3rd at the Valero Texas Open.  Add in a recent T18 finish at the API, too.  His issue was on the greens and if he can get a hot putter at Augusta, watch out.  In November, he finished T46, so while that’s not a flashy result, it’s still a made cut.  If he comes close to last week’s performance (15.3 SG:T2G and 9.3 SG:Approach), Wallace could surprise.
