It was a Hendrick Motorsports one-two punch at the Geico 500 on Sunday afternoon, with fan favorite Dale Earnhardt Jr. fending off stiff competition and taking the checkered flag. As a result, Earnhardt Jr. is the biggest mover of the week and cracks the top five in the latest edition of NASCAR Power Rankings at The Wife Hates Sports.
Hendrick teammate Jimmie Johnson finished just behind Junior, followed by Paul Menard, Ryan Blaney and Martin Truex Jr.
Johnson took to social media to celebrate the achievement of both he and his teammate.
Kevin Harvick maintains a large lead following another strong performance and an 8th place finish at Talladega over the weekend.
Talladega runner-up Jimmie Johnson leapfrogs Joey Logano and moves into second place. Logano slips one spot to third, followed by Martin Truex Jr. and the aforementioned Dale Junior.
Kasey Kahne is the week’s biggest loser, falling three spots after a disappointing 34th place finish at Talladega. Brad Keselowski and Kyle Larson also had sub-par performances, each falling two spots in the rankings.
