These days, Adam Sandler may be spending most of his time making movies, but during the 12-12-12 Concert on Wednesday night, he really delivered with his parody “SandyScrewYa”.

The concert – a show that came together to raise money for Hurricane Sandy Relief – was the perfect opportunity for Sandler to prove he can still deliver a great musical performance.  And deliver he did – and as he has done so often in the past.  The former Saturday Night Live standout brought the house down with “Sandy Screw Ya“, a clever and funny parody of Leonard Cohen’s classic “Hallelujah“.

Paul Shaffer (of Late Show with David Letterman fame) supported Sandler on piano and vocals.

Meanwhile, it was Sandler that presented the crowd with a unique message in support of those affected by Sandy.  He found ways to deliver plenty of comedic jabs against many sports figures with New York ties.  That list included Alex Rodriguez and Mark Sanchez, among others.

It was a great moment of comic relief.  The show itself featured a continuous series of fantastic performances by many of the world’s most famous musicians and bands.

But enough about Adam Sandler, see the song for yourself.

All in all, the concert was easily the best piece of television that I’ve seen all week.  Here’s hoping that the Robin Hood Foundation was able to raise tons of cash for those in need.
