The Wife Hates Sports has vowed to get more involved with NASCAR this season.  That is why I would like to announce friend and fellow family member Bill Schneider, who will be presenting his NASCAR Power Rankings on a weekly basis throughout the racing season.

Bill’s calculations and formula are unique and interesting – and should provide a nice weekly check-in for the racing season.

After the race at Fontana, Carl Edwards took over as the new Sprint Cup Series points leader, but Kyle Busch jumped three spots to the top this week’s power rankings.

As Busch leads the way, Carl Edwards lands right behind him in second place.  Tony Stewart is in third, followed by Ryan Newman in fourth and Jimmie Johnson in fifth.

Kurt Busch tumbles from first place and down to sixth this week.  Kevin Harvick follows Busch in seventh place, followed by Paul Menard, Matt Kenseth and Kasey Kahne.

The Wife Hates Power Rankings are calculated by factoring in finishes of 20th or better and average running positions of 20th or better.  In addition, every race carries 4% more weight than the previous one.
