Everyone knows that in the game of soccer, using your head is encouraged.  Javier Hernandez took that concept just a bit outside of its context.

Hernandez, a member of the Manchester United powerhouse, scored a key goal in Man U’s 3-1 victory over Chelsea during the 88th Annual FA Community Shield 2010, which took place last weekend at London’s Wembley Stadium.

But it’s exactly how Hernandez scored the goal.

Hernandez, taking a centering pass, attempted to launch the ball into the back of the net, which he did successfully.  Only, the shot went straight off his face first.javier-hernandez-scores-for-manchester-united

So without further ado, here it is, first with an amateur version of the clip.  The second video features the official highlights of the match.  The picture is much more clear and provides a great visual of the Hernandez goal.

Now THAT’S using your head, young man…
