Jimmie Johnson’s chances on winning a sixth straight championship may be improbable, but his strong run at Martinsville places him back into contention for the NASCAR Power Rankings lead.  Johnson remains in third behind Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards, but the gap has tightened.

Matt Kenseth and Kevin Harvick, meanwhile, round out the top five.

Denny Hamlin cracks the top ten and is this week’s biggest mover following a top five finish at Martinsville.  Martin Truex Jr., Jeff Burton and A.J. Allmendinger also crack the list of biggest movers.

On the other end, Kurt Busch is the biggest loser of the week, dropping three spots to eighth place.  Kasey Kahne, Clint Bowyer and David Ragan also had tough weeks at Martinsville.

The Wife Hates Sports has vowed to get more involved with NASCAR, and that’s why I am proud to introduce Bill Schneider, who will present his NASCAR power ratings on a weekly basis.  I know you will see his ratings system as unique and different than the rest.  He also infuses stats and involves recent results during the NASCAR season. – Kevin Paul
