For those wondering how the Late Night wars would sort out this fall, an answer is available.  Conan O’Brien – hung out to dry by NBC (but not without heavy compensation) – has himself a new home.

The former Tonight Show host will find his new digs at TBS starting this November, according to the Associated Press.

The show will air at 11pm, pushing back Lopez Tonight to the midnight timeslot.

So where does this announcement leave you, and what are your thoughts?

As for me, I’ve been a fan of Conan O’Brien for years.  It was sad to hear what happened to him at NBC.  Even though he’s had plenty of Benjamins to wipe away the tears, Conan deserved more of a shot.  And I look forward to his return to television.

As for the result and announcement: I guess I can’t formulate too much of an opinion immediately, considering I don’t know what the show’s format is going to be, and how TBS and ‘CoCo’ will work things out.

However, I can express some disappointment – because I – like many, did envision a big time late night grudge match – with a three-headed monster going at it on the major networks at 1130pm every weeknight.

OK, four-headed monster if you count Jimmy Kimmel.

Rejoice, Team Coco: Conan is back!

That indeed will not happen, as Conan will have his show start a half hour earlier.  O’Brien will not be headed to Fox as many had hoped.  There will be no head-to-head face-off between O’Brien, Jay Leno and David Letterman.

Still, I do take comfort personally knowing that O’Brien – with his fluffy hair and goofy, yet infectious personality – will be back on the air in a matter of months.

I just wonder what familiar skits will return – and what new surprises are in store.

Guess I’lll just have to wait for the fall to find out.

Until then, I’ll save some space on the DVR come November.

As for you… will you be watching?
